Commedia dell'Arte flourished in Italy during the medieval period and maintained its popularity to the present. With the first records dating back to the Rome of the 1500s, this improvisational theater looks back to one of the oldest theater and clowning traditions in the Western World. The tradition of the Commedia dell'Arte was and is highly influential for contemporary theater, character development, improv and clowning.
In this four-hour workshop, Teatro ZinZanni's original "Madame ZinZanni" Dolorèze Léonard, will lead you in the discovery of the different characters of the Commedia dell'Arte that range from comical characters and clowns over clear cut characters of "the intellectual" or the "military man" or the old, stingy guy. You will get to know the character and physicality of a Pantalone, Dottore, Harlequin, Pulcinella....
We will finish up the work shop with a little skit, a scene, a canovaccio in masks and costumes...
$150 tuition
Maximum: 20 participants
Registration: zica@onereel.org or call (206)816-6491
